Draft and finalize
Save work as a draft, review it, then create the invoice number when the bill is ready.
Start with the free Standard planHow it helps your business
A draft gives you time to review customer details, invoice lines, discounts and GST totals before issuing a bill. You can return to the draft while the sale is still being prepared.
Finalization is the point at which the invoice becomes an issued document and receives its invoice number. This separates work in progress from the final record that you print, download or share with the customer.
What you can do
- Save an unfinished invoice as a draft.
- Check line items and calculated totals.
- Finalize only when the bill is ready to issue.
When does an invoice get its number?
The number is assigned when you finalize the invoice, after you have reviewed the draft.
